Volvo Venture Capital in Silicon Valley!

“Mobile search is broken”, a quick glance at my coffee neighbors screen, OK, nothing unusual another entrepreneur editing her pitch. The location is Starbucks in Palo Alto, the day is Wednesday the 10th of October around 10.30. Every seat is occupied and the most used words are business model, value prop and Venture Capital… The density of entrepreneurship in Silicon Valley is difficult to comprehend.

If you look at the statistics it is clear, there is about twice as much Venture Capital invested in the bay area compared to the whole of Europe and most of that is concentrated to Sand Hill Road, Palo Alto. Think about the competitive advantage for Start-up and growth businesses to be in this climate, beyond capital and entrepreneurs, it attracts tech and business talent, advisors, blue-chip companies and so on.

I have the exciting missions to establish Volvo Group Venture Capital’s first office in the valley and will share some of the insights and experiences along the way on this blog.

About Jonas Landström

After 5 years as an entrepreneur in a biotech start-up, I joined the dark side at Volvo Group Venture Capital. As a VC I am fortunate to look into many companies and get heavily involved in a few. I am genuinely interested in the mechanisms of efficient entrepreneurship including the engagement by VCs. I am hooked on the ideas presented by Steven Blank and Eric Ries around Customer development and lean principles.
